Between straight and curved handles, much comes down to personal preference. Straight handles favor precise, flat cuts, while some users find curved handles more comfortable, especially when learning.
Right- and left-handed knives provide better control when matched to your dominant hand. Some practitioners use both orientations to access difficult grafting positions.
Grafting knives are commonly used for veneer and side-veneer grafts, as well as smoothing wounds prior to applying cut paste. They also offer fine control when shaping deadwood or defining live veins during jin and shari work.
Pro tip: Consider keeping one knife dedicated to grafting and another for deadwood carving to preserve edge sharpness.
Standard shipping covers services such as USPS Priority Mail and UPS Ground unless otherwise noted. Shipping for tools and supplies is free for orders of $59 or more and $9.50 for orders under $59.
